Riptide GP: Renegade Brings More Watery Futureracing

Wet me

I'm not sure why I have such a soft spot for watery racing games. Maybe it's because they're among the few games where water is something to actually enjoy - it's not an obstacle, punishment, or failure state. Given my aquatic leanings... well! So here I am, waggling my eyebrows and shooting finger guns at Riptide GP: Renegade [official site]. The latest in the futuristic hydro jet series is now out, bringing more futureracing and futurestunts on futureboats in futurecanals.

So! It's the future, you have a future zoombikeboat, waterways run through the world, stunts are cool and going fast is cool, so get to it. Along with a singleplayer Career mode, Renegade has eight-player online racing, split-screen local multiplayer, and ghost races. I've not played it but, as I said, I'm winking proper hard and giving it a good think.

While Riptide GP has been on PC before, it was built around pocket telephones. This here Renegade "is the first game of the Riptide GP series to be developed from the ground up for modern consoles and desktop PCs," developers Vector Unit say. "You'll definitely notice it in the details!" It's not super-pretty but it's definitely prettier.

Riptide GP: Renegade is out on Steam for £9.89/$13.49, which includes a small launch discount. Here's the launch trailer:
