Capcom Issues Street Fighter V Rollback Patch To Remove PC Security Update

Recommended Videos

On September 22, 2016, Capcom brought the September update to both the PlayStation 4 and PC versions of Street Fighter V. However, the PC version of the game included an anti-crack security update not present in the console version. Due to issues and concerns raised by the anti-crack, Capcom has released a PC rollback patch that removes the security update.

The Street Fighter V anti-crack solution was added to the game as part of a security update designed to keep people from illegitimately earning in-game currency and other entitlements. This caused the game to require kernel access to run, which in turn disrupted gameplay on some systems and created security concerns over a rootkit that would provide an unintended backdoor for malware. Capcom has rolled back the security measures and issued a new patch that would remove the anti-crack, but still provide all other September 22, 2016 update content.

Street Fighter V is immediately available for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
