Persona 5 may be delayed until April but publisher Atlus has thrown a bone to fans with this story trailer, showcased at PlayStation Experience this weekend.
The rundown, per the YouTube page, says that the role-playing game's protagonist starts out as a transferring high school student in Tokyo. The hero of the story "has the ability to enter the hearts of people and force them to confront their true selves," sort of like Roy Firestone did on ESPN's Up Close in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
These powers make him (the hero, not Roy Firestone) the leader of a group called the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, who go out to bring justice to the world. The user takes it from there.
Persona 5 will launch in the West with Japanese vocal options, a sort of make-good for delaying the game past its original Feb. 14, 2017 release. It's now on schedule for an April 4 premiere.
Persona 5 is taking digital preorders through the PlayStation Store (the point of announcing it at PlayStation Experience, after all). Pre-order bonus content includes a dynamic PS4 theme, three avatars and additional DLC.
