The boxes only contain cosmetic items, so players who spend money on the boxes won’t have a better change of winning, though they may have more stylish characters.
Blizzard has confirmed that they won’t be selling extra characters or maps as microtransactions as well.
Fortunately, the microtransactions will be limited to cosmetic items only, and will use a system somewhat similar to Team Fortress 2’s supply crates.
If you thought Overwatch, Blizzard’s insanely popular class-based first person shooter, would escape the microtransaction bug that’s infected so many multiplayer games, you’d sadly be wrong.
