Young lost his left arm in 2012 in an accident when dragged underneath a London tube train, with Metal Gear Solid publisher Konami Digital Entertainment providing Young with a new prosthetic arm under the “Phantom Limb Project,” inspired by the events of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Last year, players dove into the final chapter of Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid series with the long-awaited release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, with a new two-part documentary providing a look into a prosthetic limb project inspired by elements from the game.
BBC Three released this week its two-part documentary called Bodyhack: Metal Gear Man, which explores a prosthetic limb project for 25-year-old James Young in its two chapters.
