Frontier Developments was one of the earliest crowdfunding backers of Oculus Rift, and offered Rift dev kit support for ages – but then suddenly announced it would drop Oculus support in favour of SteamVR.
Elite: Dangerous still supports Oculus Rift.
At this stage you may be forgiven for having no idea whether Elite: Dangerous is compatible with Oculus Rift or not, and Oculus seems to be hoping to remedy that by releasing an extended trailer highlighting the feature.
Later, Frontier confirmed ongoing support for the consumer version of Oculus Rift, saying it just hadn’t been able to talk about it until Oculus made an announcement.
