Speaking with Eurogamer, CD Projekt RED co-founder Marcin Iwinski explained that The Witcher 3‘s second expansion, the upcoming “Blood and Wine,” will act as the conclusion to the story arc for The Witcher 3 proper and a conclusion to the series in whole with its release on May 31st.
Coming off last year’s release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Polish developer CD Projekt RED would certainly be expected to continue delving deeper into Geralt of Rivia’s world in a future sequel, though the studio has explained that with the game’s upcoming second expansion, there are no plans at the moment to continue the series just yet.
At the moment, CD Projekt RED is currently in development on its next project Cyberpunk 2077, a futuristic sci-fi RPG that was first revealed several years ago and is planned for release “sometime after 2017.”
The studio’s latest release, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC – the game’s second and final expansion, “Blood and Wine,” will release for all platforms on May 31st, 2016.
