Overwatch open beta won’t feature Competitive Play, mode won’t be available until after launch

If you were hoping to hop into Overwatch‘s competitive mode during the open beta this weekend, then you might be disappointed. Overwatch‘s game director, Jeff Kaplan, announced on the Blizzard forums that Competitive Play mode will be excluded from the open beta in order to tweak the system.

“Our plan is to bring back a newly re-designed version of Competitive Play sometime after Overwatch launches,” Kaplan said.

“We worked extremely hard to get Competitive Play in the game for Closed Beta.
