Sony has announced that it is going to discontinue movie and TV purchases and rentals on the PlayStation Store.
Revealed on the PlayStation Blog, the store will “no longer offer movie and TV purchases and rentals through PlayStation Store as of August 31, 2021.
Sony rounded off the post by saying that the company looks forward to “further enhancing the entertainment experience on PlayStation.”
According to Sony, the decision was made after observing “tremendous growth” from PlayStation fans using “subscription-based and ad-based entertainment streaming services,” such as Netflix, YouTube, Disney + and others.
