This is the basis of PC Gamer’s report, which suggests the AAA game being handed from one team to another is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, which was originally in co-development with Aspyr Media, the porting house best-known for its recent Star Wars re-releases, and Saber Interactive, the studio behind World War Z. The PC Gamer report speculates that the Knights of the Old Republic remake has now been fully shifted to Saber Interactive, though the Embracer report does not state any project names or particular developers.
A few weeks ago it was revealed that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake had lost two of its top directors and the game was on indefinitely on-hold.
In the meantime, the original Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel have had modern re-releases on Nintendo Switch, so even if the remake doesn’t make it out of the gate this year, there’s still some Star Wars goodness in the world.
A report today by PC Gamer suggesting that the game could still release this year has since been shot down by industry vet and Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier.
