Masayasu Ito, the engineer that played a key role in creating the hardware behind the PlayStation 4, PS4 Pro, and PS5, is leaving Sony.
Masayasu Ito joined Sony in 1986, at first working on in-car audio equipment.
According to Sony, the 60-year-old Ito is retiring after a career at Sony lasting more than 35 years.
Upon his departure from Sony Interactive Entertainment, Masayasu Ito will be replaced by Lin Tao, SIE’s current Senior Vice President of Finance, Corporate Development, and Strategy. Though he’s retiring from SIE, Ito will remain at Sony Group proper for a time.
