Nintendo of America has announced that the NES Classic Edition will be returning to retailers on June 29th, 2018, giving collectors and old-school Nintendo fans another chance to grab the coveted micro-console this summer.
Alongside the announcement, Nintendo did not give exact indications of the number of systems that will made (or what the distribution to retailers will look like), but the company did add that the NES Classic Edition and last year’s SNES Classic Edition “are expected to be available through the end of the year” at retailers.
In its original release in 2016, the NES Classic Edition micro-console became a hotly-contested item that saw it flying off store shelves, and if you missed out on the chance to pick up the system, you’ll be able to within the very near future.
Given the fervent demand for both systems as they have released, hopefully this is a sign that Nintendo has recognized that demand and adjusted their production for both systems accordingly, but luckily we won’t have to wait too long for the system to start re-appearing at retailers in time for the summer.
